Venice Beach, California: a prosperous haven for artists and creatives alike to coexist and flourish. There aren't many areas in the world that can beat Venice Beach's eclectic character. Annika Grace is a musician who has made a splash onto Venice's music scene and the community itself. The twenty-two-year-old Southern California-native has established her voice in the pop world with her empathetically raw lyrics and uplifting toplines. Annika's experience with songwriting stems from her childhood, where she wrote poems to carry her through her different phases of adulting. Having grown up in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, three major music hubs, her poems-turned-songs embody her cross-country experiences and examine topics that every young person goes through.

Grace's sound is a perfect blend of baroque pop, a fusion genre that combines pop and rock music with particular elements of classical. Her voice is timeless with a voice that can belong to various decades and musical eras when she experiments with her range. She describes her sound as "a combination of dark sultry pop combined with hints of contemporary R&B influence." She began releasing her poems-in-song-form back in 2016 and has taken fans on her journey through her maturity and young adulthood ever since. She's garnered recognition from other music discovery publications such as Savvage Mag and Earmilk, with the latter calling her music "effortless, soulful, and sultry."

Today Annika Grace releases her second single of the year, a self-love anthem 'Chasing Clouds.' The song is a modern-day pop bop that masterfully showcases the octave range she's able to achieve and why she is a force to be reckoned with. The hook's line: "chasing your clout, while you're just chasing clouds," imprints into listeners' mind and recounts her ghosts from ex's past that everyone has admittedly experienced. It's easy to see how Grace's writing processes begin with poems that she eventually breathes life into with her piano and guitar's help. The follow-up singles fans can expect to hear before the year's end into the new year act as sequels to her saga of growth and empowerment.

Grace also has an entrepreneurial and community-driven spirit amongst the artistry. In 2018, she founded the Venice Beach concert series "Saturdays at Seven," an in-home intimate showcase of local artists from West LA. Grace told us that she "wanted to make a safe space for creatives to come together and collaborate and find like-minded people on the west side." Grace continues by explaining that the concept "started with me just wanting to have my friends perform in my backyard, and it just grew organically on its own." While the concert series isn't currently operating in its full effect due to the pandemic, the Saturday night tradition looks forward to picking back up once it's safe to do so.

Check out 'Chasing Cloud' out now on all streaming services, and look out for the music video coming out soon.
